Press Release No.: ER/ASN/2025/12/30

Asansol, 14 December 2025:

Continuing its proactive measures to ensure passenger safety and prevent unlawful activities on railway premises, the Railway Protection Force of Asansol Division conducted a targeted drive under Operation SATARK on 14.12.2025 at Chittaranjan Railway Station.

During the drive, RPF personnel noticed a person standing in a suspicious manner near Platform No. 02/03 at the Jamtara end of Chittaranjan Railway Station, carrying a plastic sack and a backpack. On enquiry and subsequent checking of the luggage, several bottles of alcoholic beverages were recovered.

On questioning, the individual failed to produce any valid documents or authority for possession and transportation of the liquor. During interrogation, he admitted that the liquor was being carried for illegal sale towards Bihar an alcohol-restricted area.

Following due legal procedure, the recovered liquor was seized on the spot in the presence of witnesses and the individual was taken into custody. Subsequently, the detained person along with the seized articles was handed over to the Excise Department Jamtara for further legal action under the relevant provisions of law.

This successful action under Operation SATARK once again demonstrates the commitment and alertness of RPF Asansol Division in curbing illegal activities and ensuring a safe secure and passenger-friendly environment at railway stations and onboard trains.
