Senior Debate Competition!

Every debate begins with an opinion. What follows determines whether it survives. On 23rd June, the Senior School assembled for the annual Debate Competition, where opposing ideas met across the floor with equal measures of preparation and resolve. One argument invited agreement; the other demanded reconsideration. Between them lay the discipline of listening, often the rarest accomplishment in any debate.
Presiding over the exchange were our judges, Mr. Sougata Nanda and Mr. Siddharth Sircar, whose thoughtful adjudication rewarded arguments that were carefully reasoned rather than confidently delivered. The proceedings were conducted by the student moderator, a familiar participant on the school’s debating stage, who ensured that each round progressed with fairness and composure.
Following the judges’ deliberation, the results were declared:
First Place:
Sanvi Sinha (X D) & Saumya Kumari (IX D)
Second Place:
Rozy Paul (XII C) & Samadrita Bera (IX D)
Third Place:
Avika Bhalla (XI B) & Anwesa Sarkar (IX C)
The distinction of Best Speaker was awarded to Drisana Mondal (IX B) for the proposition and Akkapatruni Gul Sai Eesha (X C) for the opposition.
By the close of the afternoon, the winners had been announced, yet the strongest arguments seemed unwilling to leave the hall. They lingered in memory, inviting reflection long after the final word had been spoken.
