State Consultative Meeting of Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind), West Bengal Held
Kolkata: A significant State Consultative Meeting of Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind), West Bengal was held at the State Office, Urdu Ghar. The meeting was presided over by the Vice-President of the organisation, Mr. Qamaruddin Malik. The General Secretary, Dr. Wasif Akhtar, along with state office-bearers, functionaries and representatives of various regional branches, attended the meeting.
The meeting held detailed discussions on the organisation’s future action plan, promotion and development of the Urdu language and literature, and the programmes proposed to be organised in the coming months.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants observed one minute of silence in view of the Nepal tragedy and expressed their condolences to the bereaved families.
The participants also discussed the forthcoming festive season in West Bengal, including Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Chhath Puja. In view of the festive period, it was felt that organising large-scale state-level meetings and programmes during this time would not be appropriate.
Accordingly, a resolution was unanimously adopted that all regional branches and state functionaries of the Anjuman should organise programmes on World Urdu Day, National Education Day and Children’s Day in their respective areas. State office-bearers and responsible members should also be invited to participate in these programmes.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Sadiq, Dr. Abdul Waris Ali, Mohammad Haroon Arshad, Mohammad Sikandar, Mohammad Safiullah Ansari, Aftab Ali, Nizamuddin Ansari, D. Madhavi, Master Mohammad Kaleem, Parvez Alam, S.A. Khan, Sahar Majeedi, Abdul Qayum, Najm-ul-Alam, Master Ziauddin, and other office-bearers and distinguished members.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to further strengthen the activities of the Anjuman and work collectively for the promotion, development and protection of the Urdu language and literature.
