जैसा कि विश्व, विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस 2025 के बैनर तले एकजुट हो रहा है, इसी क्रम में भारतीय रेलवे पर्यावरण संरक्षण के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए 22 मई से 05 जून तक चलने वाले विशेष पखवाड़े के अभियान में सक्रिय रूप से भाग ले रहा है। इस वर्ष का थीम, “प्लास्टिक प्रदूषण को वैश्विक स्तर पर समाप्त करना”, प्लास्टिक कचरे पर अंकुश लगाने की तत्काल आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डालती है जो हमारे पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र, स्वास्थ्य और भावी पीढ़ियों को खतरे में डाल रहा है। इसके प्रतिक्रिया में, देश भर में रेलवे जिसमें पूर्व रेलवे का आसनसोल मंडल भी शामिल है – कई प्रभावशाली पहलों के माध्यम से स्वच्छ, हरित और अधिक टिकाऊ प्रथाओं को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सक्रिय कदम उठा रहे हैं।
चल रहे अभियान के हिस्से के रूप में आज आसनसोल में मंडल रेल प्रबंधक बिल्डिंग के सभी सेक्शन में सामूहिक श्रमदान कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें प्लास्टिक कचरे को हटाने और स्वच्छता पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया। परिसर की साफ-सफाई और सुंदरता बढ़ाने के लिए अधिकारियों, कर्मचारियों और पर्यवेक्षकों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया।
आसनसोल के मंडल रेलवे अस्पताल में विशेष रूप से प्रयोगशाला के आसपास गहन सफाई अभियान चलाया गया। इस पहल में चिकित्सा विभाग और इंजीनियरिंग विभाग के अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों ने भाग लिया। इस बात पर चर्चा करने के लिए जागरूकता संवाद भी आयोजित किया गया कि कैसे एकल-उपयोग प्लास्टिक हमारे दैनिक जीवन को प्रभावित करता है और कैसे छोटे व्यवहार परिवर्तन बड़े पर्यावरणीय लाभ की ओर ले जा सकते हैं।
विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस की तैयारी में अंडाल रेलवे स्टेशन पर अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों की सक्रिय भागीदारी के साथ एक संगठित सफाई कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। इसी तरह का अभियान पांडबेश्वर स्टेशन पर भी चलाया गया। इस क्रम में सिउड़ी रेलवे कॉलोनी में निवासियों और रेलवे कर्मचारियों ने पर्यावरण की देखभाल में सामुदायिक भागीदारी की भूमिका को मजबूत करते हुए अपने आस-पास की सफाई की।
बराकर स्टेशन के पास जल निकायों को साफ करने और पुनर्जीवित करने के प्रयास भी आज हुए, साथ ही लोको कॉलोनी, आसनसोल और अंडाल में डाउन सिक लाइन, अप सिक लाइन और वैगन डिपो में केंद्रित श्रमदान अभियान भी चलाए गए।
इन सतत और सार्थक कार्यों के माध्यम से आसनसोल मंडल पर्यावरणीय जिम्मेदारी और टिकाऊ जीवन के संदेश को कायम रखता है।

*ASANSOL DIVISION STRENGTHENS CLEANLINESS AND ANTI-PLASTIC DRIVE AHEAD OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY*
Asansol, 3rd June 2025:
As the world unites under the banner of World Environment Day 2025, Indian Railways is actively participating in a special fortnight-long drive from 22nd May to 5th June to raise awareness about environmental protection. This year’s theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally”, highlights the urgent need to curb plastic waste that continues to endanger our ecosystems, health, and future generations. In response, railways across the country — including Asansol Division of Eastern Railway — are taking proactive steps to promote cleaner, greener, and more sustainable practices through a series of impactful initiatives.
As part of the ongoing campaign, a Mass Shramdan Programme was organised today at all sections of the Divisional Railway Manager’s Building in Asansol, focusing on plastic waste removal and cleanliness. Officers, staff, and supervisors participated enthusiastically to enhance the sanitation and appearance of the premises.
An intensive cleaning drive was conducted at the Divisional Railway Hospital, Asansol, particularly around the laboratory. Officers & staff of the Medical Department and Engineering Department, took part in the initiative. An awareness interaction was also held to discuss how single-use plastics affect our daily lives and how small behavioural changes can lead to big environmental benefits.
In preparation for World Environment Day, Andal Railway Station witnessed an organised cleaning programme with active participation from officers and staff. A similar drive was also held at Pandabeswar Station. Meanwhile, in Siuri Railway Colony, residents and railway staff came together to clean their surroundings, reinforcing the role of community involvement in environmental care.
Efforts to clean and revive water bodies near Barakar Station also took place today, along with focused Shramdan drives at the Loco Colony, Asansol, and at Down Sick Line, Up Sick Line, and Wagon Depot (WDD) in Andal.
Through these consistent and meaningful actions, Asansol Division continues to uphold the message of environmental responsibility and sustainable living.
