#Kharagpur from the first week of last January, a mother repeatedly visited the nearby South Side High (Hindi Medium) School to enroll her school dropout daughter. Each time, the acting head teacher, Aditya Tripathi, turned her away with various excuses.In this situation, the student’s mother, Hamidan Bibi, sought help from the Millat Education and Welfare Trust and the Raja Welfare Foundation. Subsequently, Sk Aslam Ahmed contacted the acting head teacher of the school. However, he refused to grant admission with great arrogance and pride. The matter was reported to SI Debnath Panda of the concerned circle, but instead of taking appropriate action, he displayed indifference and extreme inefficiency.
After that, written complaints were submitted to all relevant departments of the district education administration, including the ADI, DI, DEO, ADM (Education), and the DM. On January 13, a letter was sent to the concerned school instructing them to arrange the admission. However, the acting head teacher stated that he would not comply with the ADI’s letter and would not grant admission.
Later, under the direction of the District Education Officer of Samagra Shiksha Mission, the District Inspector sent a letter to the school instructing them to admit the student. But once again, the acting head teacher refused to grant admission and behaved in an inhumane manner toward the student and her mother.
When the District Inspector was informed, he said that he had issued a letter and could do nothing more beyond that.
In this situation, the helpless mother asks: Can the entire district education department not ensure the admission of a single school dropout child? Will her daughter not get the opportunity to study in school? Where should she go? Whom should she approach?

पिछले जनवरी महीने के पहले सप्ताह से एक माँ अपनी स्कूल छोड़ चुकी बेटी का निकटवर्ती साउथ साइड हाई (हिंदी माध्यम) स्कूल में नामांकन कराने के लिए कई बार गईं। हर बार स्कूल के प्रभारी शिक्षक आदित्य त्रिपाठी विभिन्न बहाने बनाकर उन्हें लौटा देते रहे।
इस परिस्थिति में छात्रा की माँ हमिदान बीबी ने मिल्लत एजुकेशन एंड वेलफेयर ट्रस्ट तथा राजा वेलफेयर फाउंडेशन से सहायता की अपील की। इसके बाद शेख असलम अहमद ने स्कूल के प्रभारी शिक्षक से संपर्क किया। किंतु उन्होंने अत्यधिक दंभ और अहंकार के साथ नामांकन देने से इंकार कर दिया। इस विषय की जानकारी संबंधित चक्र के एसआई देवनाथ पांडा को दी गई, लेकिन उन्होंने उचित पहल करने के बजाय उदासीनता और घोर अकर्मण्यता का परिचय दिया।
इसके बाद स्कूल शिक्षा विभाग के ADI, DI, DEO, ADM (शिक्षा), DM सहित जिले के शिक्षा संबंधी सभी विभागों को लिखित रूप में अवगत कराया गया। गत 13 जनवरी को संबंधित विद्यालय को पत्र देकर नामांकन की व्यवस्था करने के लिए कहा गया। किंतु प्रभारी शिक्षक ने स्पष्ट रूप से कहा कि वे ADI के पत्र को मान्यता देते हुए नामांकन नहीं करेंगे।
इसके पश्चात समग्र शिक्षा मिशन के डिस्ट्रिक्ट एजुकेशन ऑफिसर के निर्देश पर डिस्ट्रिक्ट इंस्पेक्टर ने संबंधित स्कूल को पत्र लिखकर छात्रा का नामांकन करने को कहा। लेकिन प्रभारी शिक्षक ने पुनः नामांकन देने से इंकार कर दिया और छात्रा तथा उसकी माँ के साथ अमानवीय व्यवहार किया।
जब डिस्ट्रिक्ट इंस्पेक्टर को इस बारे में बताया गया तो उन्होंने कहा कि उन्होंने एक पत्र जारी कर दिया है, इससे अधिक वे कुछ नहीं कर सकते।
इस स्थिति में एक असहाय माँ का प्रश्न है—क्या पूरे जिले का शिक्षा विभाग मिलकर एक स्कूल छोड़ चुकी बच्ची का नामांकन नहीं करा सकता? क्या उसकी बेटी को स्कूल में पढ़ने का अवसर नहीं मिलेगा? वह कहाँ जाएगी, किससे कहेगी?
