*‘BIKOSHITO’ SIURI STATION UNDER AMRIT BHARAT STATION SCHEME FOR SUTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION*

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme launched by Indian Railways is a comprehensive initiative for the transformation of railway stations across the country. Under this programme, more than 1,300 railway stations are being redeveloped with modern technology and designed to meet future requirements. The objective is not only to upgrade station infrastructure but also to provide passengers with the kind of experience expected from world-class transit hubs. This scheme has emerged as a transformative force that is taking Indian Railways towards a new era of modernization.
As part of this far-reaching initiative, several important railway stations in West Bengal, are being equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. These redevelopments reflect a balanced integration of local culture, regional identity, and contemporary architecture.
A total of 101 railway stations in West Bengal are being redeveloped under Amrit Bharat station scheme. Among these, the Amrit Bharat stations at Panagarh, Kalyani Ghoshpara, and Joychandi Pahar have already been inaugurated.
Now, the development work under Amrit Bharat station scheme has been completed at Siuri station in West Bengal . Siuri is an important station in Asansol Division of Eastern Railway jurisdiction. This station serves the Siuri town which is the district headquarters of Birbhum District in West Bengal, acting as a key agricultural trade center and administrative hub.

Giving due importance to Siuri area, Hon’ble Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently inaugurated a Road Over Bridge near Siuri station connecting both sides of the city and bringing seamless movement of both road and train traffic in the area. The newly constructed Road Over Bridge in lieu of Level Crossing No. 22B/T near Siuri Railway Station has been completed at a project cost of Rs 42 crore. The bridge will remove long waiting time at the level crossing and ensure faster, safer and smoother daily travel for residents of Siuri and adjoining areas. It will significantly enhance safety by eliminating a busy crossing, reduce congestion around Siuri station and improve mobility for students, workers and local commuters. The ROB has also enabled uninterrupted movement of emergency vehicles during critical situations.
Re–developed at a cost of about Rs. 5 Crore, the Siuri Station after Amrit Bharat Station Development work includes improved façade of the station building, improved parking area, improved circulating area, improved Platform shelter & platform surface, improved signages, provision of Train Indication Board/ Coach Indication Board, provision of lift, beautification of the station, placing of murals & paintings to promote the local art and culture. All these works at Siuri will result in better station access and circulating area, regulated traffic movement and sustainable development in the area .
The newly redeveloped Siuri station will not only enhance passenger convenience but will also contribute significantly to the economic, cultural, and commercial development of the region.
