ER/Press Release: 2025/11/06
Kolkata, November 03, 2025:
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Jamtara Post of Eastern Railway, conducted a special vigilance and awareness drive on 02.11.2025 to sensitize local villagers and cattle owners about the dangers and consequences of Cattle Run Over (CRO) incidents.

Cattle Run Over cases not only cause harm to animals but also seriously affect railway traffic punctuality and safety. The RPF team interacted with residents near railway tracks, advising them to refrain from allowing their cattle to stray onto or near the railway premises. They were also informed about the legal provisions under the Railway Act, 1989, which empower the RPF to take strict action against cattle owners or herders for negligence leading to obstruction or damage to railway property.
Through this initiative, RPF Asansol Division aims to strengthen community participation in ensuring safer railway operations. The Railway Protection Force of Eastern Railway remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding railway property and ensuring smooth train movement through continued vigilance and proactive community policing programmes.
