इस वर्ष के विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस की थीम – “प्लास्टिक प्रदूषण को वैश्विक स्तर पर समाप्त करना” के उद्देश्य से भारतीय रेलवे 22 मई से 05 जून 2025 तक पखवाड़े भर का जागरूकता अभियान मना रहा है। इस अभियान के तहत पूर्व रेलवे के आसनसोल मंडल ने विभिन्न स्थानों पर विभिन्न स्वच्छता और जागरूकता गतिविधियां शुरू की हैं।
आसनसोल के लोको कॉलोनी में रेलवे अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों की भागीदारी के साथ श्रमदान अभियान चलाया गया। इसी तरह का स्वच्छता अभियान आसनसोल के न्यू कोचिंग कॉम्प्लेक्स में भी चलाया गया, जिसमें परिसर की समग्र स्वच्छता और रखरखाव में सुधार पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया।
मंडल रेलवे अस्पताल, आसनसोल के स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण विभाग द्वारा जागरूकता रैली का आयोजन किया गया। उक्त रैली अस्पताल के मुख्य द्वार से शुरू होकर आसपास के रेलवे कॉलोनी क्षेत्रों से गुजरते हुए अस्पताल में समाप्त हुई। इसमें पोस्टर, बैनर और हैंडबिल वितरित किए गए, जिसमें एकल-उपयोग प्लास्टिक के हानिकारक प्रभावों को बताया गया और टिकाऊ विकल्पों को बढ़ावा दिया गया। उक्त रैली कार्यक्रम में चिकित्सा विभाग के कर्मचारी और स्काउट तथा गाइड टीम के स्वयंसेवकों ने भाग लिया।
बराकर रेलवे कॉलोनी में कॉलोनी की साफ-सफाई अभियान चलाया गया, इसके बाद ट्रैफिक कॉलोनी, आसनसोल और पांडबेश्वर लोको कॉलोनी में भी इसी तरह की गतिविधियाँ आयोजित की गईं। इन कार्यक्रमों का उद्देश्य स्वच्छता बनाए रखना और निवासियों और कर्मचारियों के बीच जागरूकता फैलाना था।
मेमू शेड, आसनसोल में प्रवेश द्वार के पास उद्यान क्षेत्र में श्रमदान किया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त, इलेक्ट्रिक लोको शेड, आसनसोल में सामूहिक श्रमदान किया गया, जिसमें कर्मचारियों और अधिकारियों ने गहन सफाई प्रयासों में भाग लिया।
इन गतिविधियों के माध्यम से आसनसोल मंडल विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस 2025 के राष्ट्रव्यापी पालन में सक्रिय रूप से भाग ले रहा है और रेलवे कर्मचारियों और स्थानीय समुदायों के बीच पर्यावरण के प्रति जिम्मेदार प्रक्रियाओं को बढ़ावा दे रहा है।

*ASANSOL DIVISION IN ACTION TO REDUCE PLASTIC POLLUTION AND PROMOTE CLEANLINESS*
Asansol, 4th June 2025:
In alignment with this year’s World Environment Day theme — “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally” — Indian Railways is observing a fortnight-long awareness drive from 22nd May to 5th June 2025. As part of this campaign, Asansol Division of Eastern Railway has undertaken various cleanliness and awareness activities across different locations.
A Shramdaan drive was carried out at Loco Colony, Asansol, with participation from railway officials and staff. A similar cleanliness effort took place at the New Coaching Complex, Asansol, focusing on improving overall hygiene and upkeep of the premises.
An awareness rally was organised by the Health & Family Welfare Department of Divisional Railway Hospital, Asansol. The rally started from the main gate of the hospital, passed through the surrounding Railway Colony areas, and concluded at the hospital. It featured posters, banners, and distribution of handbills highlighting the harmful effects of single-use plastic and promoting sustainable alternatives. Staff members of the Medical Department and volunteers from the Scout & Guide team participated in the event.
A colony cleanliness drive was conducted at Barakar Railway Colony, followed by similar activities at Traffic Colony, Asansol, and Pandabeswar Loco Colony. These programmes aimed at maintaining cleanliness and spreading awareness among residents and staff.
At the MEMU Shed, Asansol, Shramdaan was carried out at the garden area near the entrance. Additionally, a Mass Shramdaan was conducted at the Electric Loco Shed, Asansol, involving staff and officers in intensive cleaning efforts.
Through these activities, Asansol Division is actively participating in the nationwide observance of World Environment Day 2025 and promoting environmentally responsible practices among railway employees and local communities.
