Firoz Khan (FK) Welcomes West Bengal Budget 2026
Kolkata: Firoz Khan (FK), Chairman of the IndoUG Commerce and Social Council (ICSC), has welcomed the West Bengal Budget 2026, describing it as a balanced and people-centric budget designed to promote development, employment, social welfare, and the overall well-being of the people of the state.
In a statement, Firoz Khan said that the budget takes into account the interests of youth, women, employees, workers, farmers, traders, and every section of society. He noted that the announcement of one lakh government jobs, special schemes for women, the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) to 38 percent for employees, and enhanced honorariums for Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and para-teachers would benefit millions of families across the state.
He further stated that the provisions made for women’s welfare, social security, gig workers, and migrant labourers reflect the government’s inclusive vision and commitment to strengthening vulnerable and underprivileged sections of society.
Highlighting the importance given to education and healthcare, Khan said that plans for new universities, educational institutions, hospitals, and improved healthcare services would significantly enhance access to quality education and medical facilities for the people of West Bengal.
He also praised the government’s focus on infrastructure development, noting that announcements related to metro rail, roads, bridges, and transportation projects would accelerate the state’s growth. According to him, the proposed airport at Kalyani, the Chingrighata–New Town Elevated Corridor, construction of new bridges, and other infrastructure initiatives would improve connectivity and stimulate economic activity.
Firoz Khan further observed that the proposed IT Park in Siliguri, the semiconductor unit in Durgapur, and other industrial development measures would attract investment and create new employment opportunities for the youth. He described the budget as one that promotes industry, trade, innovation, and technological advancement.
He emphasized that the budget is not limited to Kolkata alone but also prioritizes the development of North Bengal and rural areas. Key sectors such as education, healthcare, industry, employment, women’s empowerment, social security, transportation, airports, metro rail, information technology, agriculture, and infrastructure have all received significant attention in the budget.
Congratulating the Government of West Bengal and the Finance Minister on presenting what he termed a visionary and development-oriented budget, Firoz Khan expressed hope that the effective implementation of the announced schemes would take the state to new heights of progress and ensure benefits for people from all walks of life.
