Kharagpur, August 20: On Thursday night, at around 10:14 pm, a Swift Dzire car lost control and hit a divider near Kharagpur College. It is learnt that the car was heading towards Kharagpur station from Ashoknagar in Kolkata.
The car’s airbag deployed upon impact. It is reported that there was a family in the car, including an elderly man. Witnesses claim that a woman suffered serious head injuries in the accident. She was quickly rescued and taken to the hospital.
Following the incident, local residents complained that bikes were parked illegally on the side of the road in the area. In addition, the divider did not have adequate radium lights or visibility, making it difficult to see in the dark at night.
Locals also claim that accidents often occur on this divider. They allege that it is necessary to provide radium lights, reflectors and adequate lighting on the divider to prevent accidents. Along with this, there is a demand to stop illegal parking on the side of the road.
However, the exact cause of the accident and the current physical condition of the injured are yet to be revealed by the police. The real cause of the accident will be clear only after the investigation of the incident.
