Heavy Rainfall Causes Waterlogging in Kharagpur
Kharagpur is witnessing heavy and continuous rainfall since around 3:30 PM, causing severe waterlogging in several areas of the city. Due to the nonstop rain, water has entered people’s homes, while residents are facing great difficulty in moving around. Several vehicles can also be seen partially submerged in water. The situation becomes even more difficult when the drainage system is unable to handle the heavy flow of rainwater. Many drains, both large and small, need proper cleaning, as accumulated mud and waste can prevent water from flowing freely. We sincerely appeal to the Chairman and the concerned Councillors to ensure that the drains are cleaned and maintained regularly so that rainwater can drain properly and does not enter people’s homes, causing further inconvenience and hardship to residents.
