पूर्व रेलवे के आसनसोल मंडल द्वारा दुर्गापुर क्षेत्र में डेंगू और मलेरिया की रोकथाम के लिए कई उपाय किये गये हैं। जैसे ही मानसून शुरू हुआ है, ये वेक्टर जनित बीमारियाँ मच्छरों द्वारा फैल रही हैं। इस खतरे से निपटने के लिए रेलवे स्टेशन परिसर और रेलवे कॉलोनियों में मलेरिया रोधी, डेंगू रोधी दवाओं के छिड़काव का काम नियमित रूप से किया जा रहा हैय़
डॉ. अजय कुमार चिकित्सा अधीक्षक (प्रभारी), अंडाल और उनकी टीम के मार्गदर्शन में दुर्गापुर रेलवे कॉलोनी में सॉलफैक (एंटी एडल्ट) के साथ मच्छर रोधी स्प्रे का छिड़काव व्यापक रूप से किया जा रहा है और इसी क्रम में उन्होंने दुर्गापुर रेलवे कॉलोनी का भी दौरा किया। घर-घर जाकर डेंगू और मलेरिया बीमारी की रोकथाम संबंधी पर्ची का वितरण कर जागरूकता अभियान भी शुरू किया गया है। मच्छरों की वृद्धि को रोकने के लिए बाय-लारव (डाईफ्लूबेंज़्यूरोन) के साथ लार्विसाइडल स्प्रे का भी छिड़काव किया जा रहा है।
इसके अलावा, दुर्गापुर रेलवे कॉलोनी में नालियों की सफाई सुनिश्चित की गई है और जंगल की कटाई का काम भी पूरा हो चुका है।
*ASANSOL DIVISION TAKEN SPECIAL INITIATIVE TO PREVENT DENGUE AND MALARIA*

Several measures have been taken by Asansol Division of Eastern Railway for prevention of Dengue and Malaria in Durgapur area. As Monsoon has set in, these vector-borne diseases are spreading by mosquitoes. In order to tackle this menace, Anti-Malaria, Anti-Dengue spraying work is being done regularly in the railway station premises and railway colonies.
Extensive anti mosquito’s spray with solfac (Anti Adult) is being done at Durgapur Railway colony under guidance of Dr Ajay Kumar MS (in -Charge), Andal and his team and also visited Durgapur railway colony. Door to door awareness campaign has also been initiated with leaflets distribution. Larvicidal Spray is also being done with bi-larv (diflubenzurone) to prevent growth of mosquitoes.
Moreover, cleanliness of drains in Durgapur railway colony has been ensured and jungle cutting has been done.
