पूर्व रेलवे के आसनसोल मंडल ने 10 मई 2026 को निर्धारित मेगा ब्लॉक एवं उसके शैडो अवधि के दौरान मंडल के विभिन्न खंडों में व्यापक ट्रैक नवीनीकरण, अनुरक्षण तथा आधारभूत संरचना सुधार कार्य सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न किए। इन कार्यों का उद्देश्य रेलवे आधारभूत संरचना को सुदृढ़ करना, परिचालन सुरक्षा बढ़ाना तथा रेल सेवाओं के सुचारु एवं विश्वसनीय संचालन को सुनिश्चित करना है।
मेगा ब्लॉक एक नियोजित अवधि होती है, जिसके दौरान ट्रेन परिचालन को अस्थायी रूप से विनियमित किया जाता है ताकि रेलवे अभियंता एवं ट्रैक कर्मी ऐसे महत्वपूर्ण अनुरक्षण एवं निर्माण कार्य कर सकें, जिन्हें सामान्य ट्रेन परिचालन के दौरान करना संभव नहीं होता। इस प्रकार के कार्य रेलवे ट्रैकों को सुरक्षित स्थिति में बनाए रखने तथा समयनिष्ठ और आरामदायक यात्रा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक हैं।
मेगा ब्लॉक के दौरान बोडमा–जामताड़ा के बीच समपार फाटक संख्या 08 तथा जोरामोव–मधुपुर के बीच समपार फाटक संख्या 17 पर लिमिटेड हाइट सबवे (LHS) के निर्माण हेतु 12 प्रीकास्ट प्रबलित सीमेंट कंक्रीट (RCC) बॉक्स एवं बेस स्लैब लॉन्च किए गए। कार्य पूर्ण होने पर ये सबवे वर्तमान समपार फाटकों का स्थान लेंगे और सड़क यातायात को निर्बाध मार्ग उपलब्ध कराते हुए रेल एवं सड़क दोनों की सुरक्षा में महत्वपूर्ण सुधार करेंगे।
मेगा ब्लॉक के दौरान किए गए प्रमुख कार्यों में तापमान परिवर्तन के दौरान ट्रैक की स्थिरता बनाए रखने के लिए 7 किलोमीटर रेलवे ट्रैक का डी-स्ट्रेसिंग, सालानपुर में एक डायमंड क्रॉसिंग तथा एक रेलवे स्विच का प्रतिस्थापन, गर्मी एवं सर्दी के दौरान रेल पथ के सुरक्षित विस्तार-संकुचन के लिए चार विशेष एक्सपेंशन जॉइंट्स की स्थापना, दो टर्नआउट (प्वाइंट्स एवं क्रॉसिंग) का नवीनीकरण तथा डाउन लाइन में पुल संख्या 691 पर 50 मीटर रेल का प्रतिस्थापन शामिल है।
ट्रैक की समरेखण गुणवत्ता और यात्रा सुविधा में सुधार हेतु जामताड़ा में 17 किलोमीटर ट्रैक तथा छह टर्नआउट की विशेष मशीनों द्वारा टैम्पिंग की गई, जिसके बाद 4 किलोमीटर में डायनेमिक ट्रैक स्टेबलाइजेशन किया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त नौ कंक्रीट स्लीपरों का प्रतिस्थापन, 46 रेल जोड़ों की वेल्डिंग, ट्रैक फास्टनिंग का नवीनीकरण, एक किलोमीटर रेल पेंटिंग, 350 मीटर रेल परिवर्तन तथा सिग्नलिंग में प्रयुक्त 12 ग्लूड इंसुलेटेड जॉइंट्स का नवीनीकरण किया गया।
इन कार्यों के सफल निष्पादन से रेल पथ और अधिक सुदृढ़ होगा, यात्रा की सुगमता बढ़ेगी तथा गति प्रतिबंधों एवं अनुरक्षण संबंधी व्यवधानों की संभावना कम होगी। इससे यात्रियों को अधिक सुरक्षित, आरामदायक और विश्वसनीय रेल सेवाएं प्राप्त होंगी, जबकि मालगाड़ियों का परिचालन भी अधिक दक्षतापूर्वक हो सकेगा। ये प्रयास आसनसोल मंडल द्वारा मजबूत रेलवे आधारभूत संरचना के अनुरक्षण तथा सुरक्षित एवं कुशल रेल परिचालन सुनिश्चित करने की दिशा में किए जा रहे सतत कार्यों को दर्शाते हैं।

*MAJOR TRACK RENEWAL AND SAFETY WORKS COMPLETED DURING MEGA BLOCK OVER ASANSOL DIVISION*
*12 Precast Limited Height Subway Boxes Launched to Improve Rail and Road Safety*
Asansol, 10 May, 2026:
Asansol Division of Eastern Railway successfully carried out extensive track renewal, maintenance and infrastructure improvement works on 10 May 2026 during a scheduled Mega Block and its shadow period in different sections of the Division. These works were undertaken to strengthen railway infrastructure, enhance safety and improve the smooth and reliable operation of train services.
A Mega Block is a planned period during which train movements are temporarily regulated to allow railway engineers and track staff to carry out important maintenance and construction works that cannot be undertaken during normal train operations. Such works are essential to keep railway tracks in safe condition and to ensure punctual and comfortable train journeys.
During the block, 12 precast Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) boxes and base slabs were launched for construction of Limited Height Subways (LHS) at Level Crossing Gate No. 08 between Bodma and Jamtara and Level Crossing Gate No. 17 between Joramow and Madhupur. After completion, these subways will replace the existing level crossing gates and provide uninterrupted road connectivity, thereby improving safety for both train operations and road traffic.
Major works carried out during the Mega Block included stress adjustment of 7 kilometres of railway track to maintain track stability during temperature changes, replacement of one diamond crossing and one railway switch at Salanpur, installation of four special expansion joints to allow safe movement of tracks during heat and cold, renewal of two turnouts (points and crossings), and replacement of 50 metres of rail on Bridge No. 691 in the Down Line.
To improve track alignment and riding comfort, 17 kilometres of track and six turnouts at Jamtara were tamped using specialised machines, followed by Dynamic Track Stabilization over 4 kilometres to consolidate the track structure. Additional works included replacement of nine concrete sleepers, welding of 46 rail joints, renewal of track fastenings, rail painting over one kilometre, replacement of 350 metres of rail and renewal of 12 glued insulated joints used for signalling.
The successful completion of these works will strengthen the railway track, improve riding comfort and reduce the possibility of speed restrictions and maintenance-related disruptions. Passengers will benefit from safer, smoother and more dependable train services, while freight movement will also become more efficient. These efforts reflect Asansol Division’s continued focus on maintaining robust railway infrastructure and ensuring safe and efficient train operations across the Division.
