रेलवे बोर्ड ने सोन नगर और अंडाल के बीच मल्टी-ट्रैकिंग परियोजना के लिए 12000 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की मंजूरी दी है। कुल मिलाकर यह परियोजना 374.53 रूट किमी और 814.38 ट्रैक किमी में फैली हुई है, जिसमें से प्रधानखाटा से अंडाल के बीच 70 किमी की लंबाई आसनसोल मंडल के अंतर्गत है।
पांच साल की अपेक्षित पूर्ण अवधि वाली यह परियोजना झारखंड और पश्चिम बंगाल राज्यों के लिए सहायक होगी, जिससे धनबाद और पश्चिम बर्धमान जिलों को काफी लाभ होगा। स्वीकृत लागत में व्यापक सिविल, इलेक्ट्रिकल और एसएंडटी कार्य शामिल हैं, परियोजना के पूरा होने से मेन लाइन में भीड़भाड़ कम होगी, जिससे अतिरिक्त मेल/एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों के परिचालन में मदद मिल सकती है तथा इसके अलावा, प्रधानखांटा से अंडाल के बीच के मार्गों के लिए 160 किमी प्रति घंटे की लक्ष्य गति हासिल करने में भी मदद मिल सकती है। यह परियोजना संरक्षा को बढ़ाएगी और पूरे क्षेत्र में रेल परिचालन में सुधार करेगी।
इसके अलावा, इस परियोजना के अंतर्गत सुचारू और निर्बाध रेल यातायात सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कई रोड ओवर ब्रिज (आरओबी) और रोड अंडर ब्रिज (आरयूबी) के साथ-साथ 1 महत्वपूर्ण पुल, 13 प्रमुख पुल और 138 छोटे पुलों का निर्माण शामिल है। 3 नए स्टेशनों की शुरुआत और फ्लाईओवर के निर्माण के माध्यम से लेवल क्रॉसिंग को खत्म करने से रेल परिचालन और अधिक सुव्यवस्थित हो जाएगा।
उक्त परियोजना शुरू करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम के तहत अंडाल-प्रधानखांटा सेक्शन में लगभग सभी आवश्यक भूमि का अधिग्रहण कर लिया गया है।

*NEW TRACK WILL BE LAID OVER ANDAL-PRADHANKHUNTA SECTION UNDER TRANSFORMATIVE MULTI-TRACKING PROJECT IN ASANSOL DIVISION*
Asansol, July 10, 2024 :
Railway Board has sanctioned over Rs. 12000 Cr for the multi-tracking project between Son Nagar and Andal. The project in total is stretching over 374.53 route km and 814.38 track km, amongst which 70 KM length between Pradhankhunta to Andal is under Asansol Division.
The project, with an expected completion period of five years, will serve the states of Jharkhand and West Bengal, significantly benefitting Dhanbad and Paschim Bardhaman districts. With the sanctioned cost encompassing extensive civil, electrical, and S&T works, the project’s completion will alleviate congestion in the mainline which may help in running of extra Mail/Express Train and may also help in achieving the target speed of 160 Kmph for the routes between Pradhankhunta to Andal. This project will enhance safety, and improve rail operations across the region.
Furthermore, the project’s scope includes the construction of 1 important bridge, 13 major bridges, and 138 minor bridges, alongside several ROBs and RUBs, to ensure smooth and uninterrupted rail traffic. The introduction of 3 new stations and the elimination of level crossings through the construction of flyovers will further streamline rail operations.
In a significant move towards project commencement, almost all the required land has been acquired in the Andal-Pradhankhunta section.
